The significance of a ribbon-cutting for a business is monumental. It’s an appreciation and recognition of the business and shows the support of the city’s leadership and the community. With arms wide open, Eazy Balbeisi, with his son, Dominic by his side, welcomed any and all to share in this special day.
I first had the honor of meeting Eazy hours after Hurricane Laura had cleared southwest Louisiana. Nina P’s Café was our Ground Zero, where so many showed up to supply, prepare and serve countless meals for weeks on end for anyone in need. Regardless of the conditions or the exhaustion, Eazy could always be seen with an ear to ear smile, a true asset to our community.
Since that time, Eazy has opened his newest restaurant, Nawal’s Kabab House, offering exquisite Greek and Lebanese cuisine and impeccable service to southeast Louisiana diners.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, SWLA Chamber- Economic Alliance president George Swift welcomed Nawal’s as Eazy and Dominic cut the giant blue ribbon to applause. The festivities moved to inside as musician Paul Piazza sang a string of favorites while guests were treated to a buffet of hummus varieties, Shrimp Nawal and gyro.
