A couple of months ago, I decided I wanted to work at finding the areas all out best hamburger. I had posted something in regards to this quest on Facebook and one of the owners from Twisted Cooks, Jerrett Overmyer, contacted me and told me I needed to stop in and try their burger.

Twisted Cooks Garrett and I stopped by one day to give this burger a shot. I ordered a simple cheese burger, and instead of the plain fries, I decided to try their fries topped with melted cheese and pulled pork. If I am being honest, the burger wasn’t the highlight of the meal; it was the pulled pork. The smoky rich flavor it had was unbelievable and it made the meal a success.

So I decided I was going to go back again to give the burger another shot, and of course I really wanted to get those fries again, but to my surprise they had just redone their menu and had taken the fries topped with cheese and pork off of their menu. That dish was such a solid go-to item that I couldn’t fathom how you could take something that good off your menu and not have sad customers.

I was going over the new menu when I saw their Boba Gump Taco: “Two delicious tacos stuffed with your choice of either our mouth-watering catfish bites or our succulent shrimp topped with lettuce, our fresh made Pico, jalapeno mayo, and shredded lettuce. Fish and shrimp available grilled or fried.” These really caught my eye and I decided to go with one shrimp and one fish. I decided to get them both fried and I must say the batter/breading they used was kick ass. There were no crazy over-the-top ingredients, just your basic taco toppings, but the pico and jalapeno mayo combined with the batter/breading made these two tacos ones I will go back and get again and again.

Now, I still plan on going back to give the burgers another shot, as I’ve read from too many people how good they were. I could have just caught them on a bad or off day.

I hear people talking on Facebook all the time in these little restaurant guide pages, and after you read a few, you realize that some people just enjoy being hateful or rude. A restaurant is an ever changing thing. Sure there are places where they could care less what you have to say to them about your meal or customer service, but there are some that live for the feedback.

If you have a bad experience, your first response should not be to go on social media to bash them. Even more so, if you are going to bash them, at least give some valuable information that justifies your statements, not just “They suck” or “I’m never going back.” These places do want feedback, but when you talk to them like you’re their boss, you won’t get the response that you think you should.

This may be a surprise to a lot of people, but the customer is not always right. You may want to be, but there are cases where you’re wrong or just don’t have all the information. You must also realize that these experiences good or bad can be isolated occurrences and before you completely tear down a persons livelihood, maybe you should give them another shot to make sure you just didn’t get them on a off day.

Some people are negative just to be negative, but they don’t think about how that negative publicity can affect a business; especially in this area, because everybody knows everybody in some way.
